Brokers Trust Surpasses BT Community Project Goal | 60 Days for 60 Years
Last November Brokers Trust launched our own community giving program called The Brokers Trust Community Project. A program dedicated to ramping up our philanthropic activities this year—to mark our 60th anniversary—and beyond.
The Brokers Trust Community Project invited each member of our Brokers Trust team to donate a collective 60 days for 60 years to local charities—with the goal of making meaningful charitable donations in 2024 and, in turn making a difference in the communities we do business in.
And last month we not only met but surpassed that goal! What an incredible achievement 🙌
For the past several months Brokers Trust has been volunteering at the Yonge Street Mission (YSM) to support their Project: Generat1on Evergreen Meal where they:
- Prepared and served meals for up to 100 street-involved youth
- Stocked YSM’s Food Bank with a variety of non-perishable and fresh foods to ensure community members can enjoy nutritious meals at home
- Helped to prepare the Food Bank for the week’s appointments by assisting staff in unloading food delivery trucks and sorting and organizing foods + other donated goods
The experience was invaluable for both the Brokers Trust team as well as the team at YSM. See below for what some of our team members had to say about the experience:
“The experience was extremely humbling, eye opening, touching and emotional. I truly had no idea what to expect and my days volunteering at YSM are some of my most impactful. It’s so amazing to see the kindness that is out there in the world and the important work that the Yonge Stress Mission is doing for those youth who don’t have homes and that are out on the street.” – Savannah Di Lecce, Personal Lines Senior Account Manager
“It was a pleasure to volunteer at the Yonge Street Mission (YSM) – Evergreen. I was able to volunteer a couple of times, assisting Marion in the kitchen and preparing meals for the youth. The staff is amazing, helpful and passionate. I was astonished to see how much the team at YSM does to support these youth and provide the necessary resources they need to help them thrive—from giving them nourishing meals, clothing, healthcare, dental care, counselling, daycare and employment assistance, to helping them beyond their time at YSM, if need be. I was able to speak to some of the youths that dropped into the centre— everyone was grateful for the assistance and care they received from the staff and for the safe space to get off the streets for a few hours during the day. YSM is a wonderful community that can change the lives of Toronto’s street-involved youth. I look forward to volunteering more at the YSM and to the other ways they give back to support the youth in the community!” – Alison Agar, Resource & Technology Development Specialist
“YSM is truly a remarkable place helping, bettering, and encouraging our street-involved youths in Toronto to seek a better opportunity for their future. I was able to see and experience how YSM helps these youths by providing great wholesome meals, medical assistance, job aid opportunities, offering daycare services etc. I look forward to volunteering again!” – Marcie Cestra, Team Leader, Personal Insurance
The BT Community Project is still going strong!
Reaching the goal of 60 days for 60 years is an incredible achievement, but the work in our local communities doesn’t stop there. The Brokers Trust team is dedicated to bettering the communities we do business in and with that we have a number of initiatives lined up for our team that takes us to the end of this year and beyond.
Keep your eyes open for more information on how this team is not only doing good for our clients but also for our communities.
Thank you for the BT Team for their time, dedication, and passion to this initiative and also to the team at YSM for welcoming our help.
